Nichole's Blend, Sonoma County (252 cases produced)
The fruit for the 2010 Nichole's Blend was sourced from two vineyards in the Sonoma Coast appellation. Terra de Promissio, east of the town of Petaluma, is buffeted by the cool breezes of the Petaluma Gap which produces a wine with structure and earthy Pinot flavors. Miron, in the Sebastopol Hills area of the Russian River Valley appellation, benefits from the famous Goldridge soils and yields a wine with pure fruit character that the Russian River Valley is so famous. The resulting blend is a complex and nuanced wine of refined quality.
A ripe Bing cherry hue introduces this seductive and youthful Pinot Noir. Initially, aromas of cranberry, raspberry, and orange dominate. With some air, ground sage and juniper berry mingle with the fruit to create a memorable profile. Intense raspberry, wild berry and spice flavors are balanced by the velvety tannins and focused acidity. A finish highlighted by wild berries and a touch of spice carries through to the next sip. Drink now or over the next 4 - 5 years.

Weir Vineyard, Yorkville Highlands (Wine Spectator 93 points, 175 cases produced)
Perched among the craggy hills of the Yorkville Highlands, the Weir vineyard produces an expressive and red fruit accented pinot noir. The shallow soils and intense winds of the Yorkville Highlands create a challenging environment for pinot noir; as a result, the wine is one of exuberant flavors and structure.
The immediate attack presents a bevy of high toned red fruits. Red apple skin, bing cherries, strawberry, and raspberries jump from the glass. The mid-palate unfurls with supple and juicy cranberry, rose water, pomegranates, and baking spice accents. The tannins are well integrated and provide a well-defined core. The wine finishes with persistent and bold red fruit flavors.

Guidici Vineyard, Sonoma Coast (Wine Spectator 90 points, 150 cases produced)
Nestled outside the small town of Occidental, several miles from the Pacific and amidst towering redwoods, the Guidici vineyard produces an elegant and focused pinot noir. The site's extreme maritime influence allows the Guidici pinot to maintain its balance while not sacrificing intensity.
The first impression is of an intense amalgam of dark cherries, raspberries, black tea, lavender, and cola. The heady aromas and dark color seem to indicate a larger framed wine; however, the mid-palate demonstrates balance and nuanced persistence. The core is infused with blackberries, cloves, cranberries, and wet stone. The finish is subtle and refined.
