Winemaker Notes
The 2020 Chardonnay is Spell’s inaugural Bennett Valley Chardonnay and was vinified in a manner heavily influenced by the Meursault school of winemaking—fermented in barrel to full-dryness, sur lie ageing, and extended elevage. What arrives in bottle is a decidedly Old-World leaning Chardonnay. A backbone of acidity races down the palate delivering notes of stone fruit, white flowers, and fresh cut hay, all while complexities of a cooling minerality, petrichor and flintiness round out the palate and complete the wine. A serious expression of cool-climate California Chardonnay.
